Gay Friendly Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast St. Brides Wentloog, Wales ![]() www.westusklighthouse.co.uk |
West Usk Lighthouse For 187 years this romantic idyll has gazed out across the Bristol Channel, and for 101 of those years it was a saviour for the seafaring folk who plied their trade in these waters. In 1987, Frank and Danielle discovered the derelict shell of the Usk Lighthouse and from then on it wasa labour of love for them. It's incredibly unique, pleasingly quirky and sits in one of the most romantic and atmospheric locations in Wales. How often do you get the chance to stay in a lighthouse whose massive walls resound with so much history? The accommodations here are not chic at all, and all of the rooms are wedge-shaped as you would expect, but they are beautifully furnished, very comfortable and very nicely equipped. There is an exquisite stillness and calm here that's simply enthralling, punctuated only by birdsong and a rush as the world's second fastest tide sweeps past the lighthouse on its tireless journey inland. Staying here is an experience not to be missed. Incredible stay. |
