Gliffaes Country House Gay Friendly Hotel, Crickhowell, Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales

www.gliffaeshotel.com

You cannot help being seduced by this majestic hotel as she slowly and provocatively reveals all her beauty with promises of romance from her hideaway amidst the glorious eastern fringe of the Brecon Beacons National Park, designed and built in the
Italianate Revival Period of the 1900’s
as only the
Victorians could. Gliffaes is surrounded by 33 acres of breathtakingly beautiful grounds that include manicured lawns bordered by a spectacular array of shrubs, ancient woodland and fields that lead down to the River Usk as it slowly meanders past on its tireless journey to the ocean. The Gliffaes Country House Hotel first opened its doors in the mid 1930s and has been enthralling and captivating all who visit ever since. This is no Victorian folly; there is an honesty and warmth here with a heart as bold as the architecture is beautiful and it provides an incredible selection of accommodation: great value rooms ideal for a night away, a romantic antique four poster room, huge luxury rooms with swimming pool size roll top baths and French windows that open onto private balconies that enjoy stunning views across the river to the hills beyond. The Gliffaes is a foodie's paradise and whether a breakfast, a light lunch in the conservatory, afternoon tea or a candlelit dinner, it's perfect and all part of the fabulous Gliffaes experience. Amongst all this obvious style, romance and luxury the real stars here are Susie and James Suter, the fourth generation of their family who have been welcoming guests to their haven in Wales since 1948 so they know about hospitality, and together with
their loyal and friendly team of staff, have won more awards for food, service and hospitality than you can shake a stick at. Fabulous stay.

Gay Friendly Bed and Breakfast, Crickhowell, Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales
Gwyn Gay Friendly Bed and Breakfast, Brecon Road, Crickhowell, Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales

www.tygwyn.com

It’s a little bit of a squeeze with the car through the stone pillars at the entrance to Tŷ Gwyn but I guess that as they were built nearly 200 years ago, a horse and cart had plenty of room. Once carefully negotiated you are rewarded with the heady sent of lavender and roses and begin to appreciate the charm and character of this gem of a bed and breakfast. You see, Tŷ Gwyn is a grade II listed building that has spade loads
of charm and character that drift effortlessly around the nooks and crannies of this pleasingly quirky Georgian house, and those of you who have
been blessed with height (6ft and over) will need to duck now and again. The walls of Tŷ Gwyn abound with curios and writings that reflect the beauty and spirit of the Brecon Beacons and Wales. The accommodation here at Tŷ Gwyn is delightful and each of the pretty en-suite bedrooms
has been furnished to a high standard and is well equipped: TV, generous hospitality tray, CD/radio alarm clock and hairdryer. Sue and Pete are friendly and welcoming hosts and if there is a book on how to run a fabulous friendly bed and breakfast they have certainly read it, or perhaps
most likely wrote it. One word of caution though, please do leave room for Sue’s magnificent breakfasts. Tŷ Gwyn is the quintessential Welsh bed and breakfast with oodles of charm and character. Tŷ Gwyn sits in the market town of Crickhowell that nestles
between the gently rounded Black Mountains and the dramatic untamed natural beauty of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. What a fabulous friendly stay in Crickhowell.
