Gay Friendly Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast and
Traditional Mongolian Yurt West Usk Lighthouse Gay Friendly Bed & BreakFast and Yurt, St Brides Wentloog, Newport, Severn Estuary, South Wales ![]() www.westusklighthouse.co.uk For 187 years this romantic idyll has gazed out across the Bristol Channel, and for 101 of those years it was a saviour for the seafaring folk who plied their trade in these waters. In 1987, Frank and Danielle discovered the derelict shell of the Usk Lighthouse and from then on it wasa labour of love for them. It's incredibly unique, pleasingly quirky and sits in one of the most romantic and atmospheric locations in Wales. How often do you get the chance to stay in a lighthouse whose massive walls resound with so much history? The accommodations here are quite chic but very quirky with all of the rooms being wedge-shaped as you would expect, but they are beautifully furnished, very comfortable and nicely equipped. There is a viewing platform with a bar and hot-tub that enjoys awe-inspiring views across the Severn Estuary. There is an exquisite stillness with a delicious calm that simply enthrals, punctuated only by birdsong and the rush of the world's second fastest tide as it sweeps past the lighthouse on its tireless journey inland. For the more earthy and adventurous of you, you just have to try the traditional Mongolian yurt. Absolutely fabulous! |
